Determination Of organic matter

Determination Of organic matter In power generation water play vital role as blood in human body. If blood is healthy then human health is also good. It means performance and efficiency working as well as human being. For water treatment we required lot of water .Technically, it is store in ultimately in reservoirs having huge sizes and highly deep .But due to large sizes it is impossible to cover up reservoirs .That mean it’s always in open condition. Due to direct sunlight organic matter formation takes place, which is troublesome for water treatment in DM plant and also in cooling tower fins get chocks. For this disinfection is done by chlorination.so for determination of disinfection it is very important to determine how much organic matter is present and regarding that chlorination amount can be calculated. Organic Matter test It is perform by taking sample from required places and area. Test sample is perform by as given below in one BOD Bottle or conical flask with tight cock. In another BOD Bottle or conical flask take pure DM water and prepare as test sample at 27 temperature. Both samples kept for four Hours and assure that their caps are tightly closed condition should be maintain until four hours completed. 100 ml test sample ↓ Kept for 27 temperature ↓ Added 4.0 ml H2SO4 (mixture of 1:3) ↓ 10.0 ml Kmno4 solution (N/80 ) added ↓ Kept both of sample (Test sample & blank sample ) from same timing and same condition for an 4 hours . ↓ After four hour add about 0.2 gm to o.4 gm KI(Potassium iodide) ↓ Add 3to 5 drops of starch Indicator ↓ Titrated by sodium thiosulphate solution of N/80 2Solution.(V1=8.0 ml ) ↓ Titrate same blank sample sodium thiosulphate solution by adding same chemicals and same indicator .(V2 =9.0 ML) Calculation = Difference (V2-V1) 9.0 ml -8.0 ml =1.0 ml 1.0 x 0.0125 x 124.9 x 1000 100 = 15.61 ppm
